Apprenticeship

I love reading the author Sharon Blackie explain about "calling" and the lost fairy tale art of apprenticeship. She shares an old story from the Isle of Skye, where a girl who is lost in the Cuillin mountains must apprentice herself to an old woman and an old man who create the dreams of the world for a year and a day, before she is guided back down the mountain by fairy deer, and there finds the love of her life.

Following a call that I first heard when I was age five, I am on the path of learning a skill from someone who knows, really knows her craft, working with beautiful cloth, stitching by hand and creating what is known as a heritage kilt.
